This is the philosophy of Mediensound, because music is a crucial medium to carry emotions. Certainly you can remember a movie that plucked your heartstrings at a particular point: Would it have had the same effect without any music? Especially the music used in conjunction with advertising can take advantage of the psychological effect on the listener and support the communication goal very effectively indeed.
Researchers of the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences found, that “Both music and language can prime the meaning of a word, and that music can (as language can) determine a physiological semantic processing.”(Source). In consideration of cultural backgrounds this effect is especially useful in the marketing domain to support a communication goal by means of music and even discretely imply further meanings.
During her academic studies, Mediensound founder Tina Rupp studied the effects of music and sound used within the media. Tina completed a three year degree in composition at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 2001.She extensively researched the relevance of the effect of music in the media and expanded this study within her postgraduate master studies in digital media. Her main focus was aimed at the psychological effect of music in advertising and in differing media, about which she wrote her master thesis in 2005.
